Amanda,
Thank you for reading my blog and for your kind comments. Yes, I love the themes you present in class. They inspire and make me think. Maybe one day I can take all of my intellectual understanding and use it to get my foot behind my head. I'll keep trying.

Barrett,
I'm speechless. I know, hard to believe! Firstly, that you continue to practice even though it's so hard for you is an inspiration. Secondly, that you take the themes to heart and share them is an honor to me, my teachers and their teachers as well. You get the correlations between the mat and the real world. Brava! Thank you so much for your kind words and for honoring me and the teachings I hold so dear. After all, who needs to put their foot behind their head?

Probablt a bit of both--like jumping into cold water with friends either on the deck or already in the pool to be there if you should need them. No matter how I do it, I think I always assume there is some sort of safety net even if there really isn't.

Loved this last posting and wonderful pictures. You really did look scared, but in control---a memorable experience that will remain a highlight in your travel experiences. There have been many things in life I avoided because I feared I would fail, but when I tackled some of them and succeeded,my self esteem and happiness really soared. Happy to learn it's physically healthy as well.
Gigi

Thanks for your comment. I agree that 10:30 weekdays and 11:30 weekends seems like a reasonable curfew for a 16 year old. We are trying to strike the right balance between giving them some freedom but also reminding them that they are still accountable to us. Then there is, as you say, the sleep factor. Teenagers may be able to sleep late or take a nap after an early practice but a working mom has to get up early to go to work regardless of how late she stayed up waiting for her teenager to come home. Good for you for reminding them!
